ChangeCamp…a new era in Canadian political engagement?

ChangeCamp, a new initiative aimed at re-imagining government and citizenship in Canada, has officially launched as of this morning.  Although I will be blogging about it more throughout the day, I thought I would post one of the great video’s that gives an idea of what this movement is all about and what it hopes to accomplish… ChangeCamp ’09 [...]

Photosynth picks the inauguration for it’s coming out party…

Although Microsoft’s Photosynth has been around for a number of years now, what they have done for the inauguration is truly spectacular.  I first saw Photosynth demoed at TED by Blaise Aguera y Arcas back in March of 2007 and was blown away by Microsoft’s photo stitching tool.  Leveraging the excitement and energy of the [...]

Yes they did…how a few pioneers redefined the US political landscape

Being a political junkie and avid consumer of social media, I have read a great deal about how the Obama campaign leveraged social media to engage previously disenfranchised populations in the US.  Having said that, the presentations and information provided at the Unfinished Business Lecture Series – Innovation within the Obama Campagin hosted by the Ontario College [...]

Watch some documentaries for free…

Snag Films (Beta) has just launched an interesting service, which allows users to view and share different films.  Right now you can view a bunch of different documentaries, but I believe the intent is to expand the library significantly.  Very cool.

A Facebook app that helps you be a bit greener

A friend from work told me about this little Facebook app called: iamgreen. Essentially it asks you some simple questions and uses that data to rank how green you are (in a superficial and simplistic way), which you can then use to compare your results to your friends and colleagues. You can also browse other [...]

My first iPhone blog post

Well, this is my first blog post authored directly from my iPhone. I know…this is nothing new, but the application I am using is. Called (appropriately enough) WordPress for iPhone, the application makes authoring and managing your blog quite simple. The attached pic is just a quick snap I took from inside the GO Train [...]

Photosynth a great web-app for your digital photos

I first saw Photosynth demoed by Blaise Aguera y Arcas at TED back in November of 2007 (video available below).  Even a year ago, the application was almost beyond belief. Well, it looks as though Microsoft has finally made it available for mass consumption.  Developed out of the Microsoft Live Labs, a group of brilliant people [...]

Photo-realistic virtual world technology…unbelievable

Two of the more significant challenges virtual worlds have had to deal with since their inception several years ago are realism and ubiquity. In terms of realism, virtual worlds have been interesting and engaging, but far from realistic. More like cartoon or semi-realistic gaming environments, they have failed to live up to the hope of [...]
